November 21, 2011 - Almost Two Weeks Now!

HELLO LOVED ONES!!!!

Sister Thorne here, reporting from the MTC. Life here is FANTASTIC! I cannot recall a time when I have been more happy. Oh man, this is not to say that it is not a challenge what with having a companion 24/7, waking up around 5:30, studying from 7 AM until 7:30 PM with three half hour breaks in between for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then doing it all again the next day. Here is the deal. I know people say that the spirit here is great, but that is a total understatement. IT IS FANTASTIC! I have been able to understand SOOO many wonderful things about the gospel that I really did not fully comprehend before. My mind feels enlightened, and my soul healthy and squeeky clean. I cannot thank my Father in Heaven enough for allowing me to serve this mission, and also for my parents for supporting me.

My companion is Sister Maynard from Thousand Oaks, California. She is a cute sister mission, about five inches shorter than me with light brown shoulder length hair. She loves to laugh, HALLELUJAH right?! We get along well, and have learned to communicate (and are still learning) when we have a difference in opinion. It does get difficult when all of the Sisters in your room are on their special time of the month, two of them have colds, and ALL of them are sleep deprived. We have really made it through well though. We just laugh. Okay so here is a funny story that needs to be told. Some of you may have heard it in recent letters, but we are still laughing about it here in the MTC and one of my roommates, Sister Park, even made a comic out of it. One morning last week we were all walking out of building 1M where the cafeteria is located. Sister Park made the comment that she felt like she smelled weird. I just smiled at her and nodded my head. She jokingly acted offended after I followed the nod of my head with the comment that she did not smell weird, the correct word was probably "funky". I felt bad after teasing her the moment I said it so I was looking at her and about to put my arm around her when I ran face first into a pole that hold the cover up over the walk ways. Smack in the face. Yep. All three of the others saw it as well as some Elders who were passing by. Yes. Humiliating. And HILARIOUS. We all laughed until we almost wet our pants. Then we laughed some more. I have not heard the end of it. :D

I also was called as the Coordinating sister for our Zone. At first I was so surprised because I thought it was going to be Sister Park who was called, she is 26 and very knowledgeable about the gospel. But turns out President Palmer called me. I now feel better about it because I have prayed that the Lord will help me to be up to the challenge. I was able to welcome FOUR new Sisters last week on Wed. It was wonderful! We are all good friends now, all of them are doing well and seems happy.

Oh Heather, this is for you especially but also for everyone :D I have been able to give foot rubs to two of the sisters, my comp and Sister Park. They both loved them, and I know that it helped with their stress. I know this because Sister Maynard passed out asleep while I was giving her hers. She usually has a hard time getting to sleep like th rest of us. I was so happy that she finally was able to really relax. I love the SISTERS!!!!

Also the Elders in our district are the best Elders on the planet me thinks. I love and respect them all.

If you have a chance check out Enos 1:12. I found this in my study of prayer. Notice how it does not say to just pray. Diligence my dear loved ones! The mercy and love of God can make us new.

I will right more next week! Please write me letters if you have the time! Please email me if you need my address.

Love,

Sister Thorne (YAHOO!)
